Kevin Underwood

As you have probably established by now, I have a bit of a sentiment for hunting. Not just any hunting though, but the raw and authentic type that breeds adventure. The uncomfortable and overwhelming kind that keeps you up at night and makes your hands sweat. The kind that seems impossible to achieve right up until you discover that it actually isn’t.

I’m not sure how I came to be this way. I do know that I was infatuated with the pursuit from an early age. I grew up on the rainy side of Oregon in the temperate rainforests of the pacific northwest. I learned to shoot a bow as a child, and I learned to hunt when I was legally old enough to be deemed fit to posses a tag.

For some reason the interest in wild things in wild places continued to grow. My Dad definitely gave me every opportunity for this, but why it grabs hold of some people and not others I don’t know. It took a back seat at times in high school to things like sports, but it was always still there. By the time I was ready for college nothing else besides biology made sense to me because it was the closest thing I could think of to hunting that I could think of in terms of a real career. So I studied away for 4 years trying to glean any piece I could find interesting and applicable to the field.

When that was over I found a job in forestry that could keep me in the woods which seemed like decent enough of a start. Its amazing what you’ll see and hear in the woods by yourself everyday for a year. Its more amazing the amount of things I’ve been able to see over 15 years now.

Along the way I’ve gotten married and had a daughter. This shaped me and my life immensely as well. Alyssa and I got married in 2011 and our daughter Ellsie was born in the spring of 2015. She has always been small in stature for her age, and she is the namesake for Mighty Mouse Mountainwerks.

I’ve been on and through some incredible adventures and places. Some of them should have probably killed me, others have been sheer elation and adrenaline in the purest senses. This company is a collection of my thoughts, opinions and viewpoints that have been molded along the way. It is also a collection of gear that those same views in the mountains have fine tuned.

Everything here is intentional. No AI. No bullshit products. No plagiarized images. If it’s here I either wrote it, photographed it, or sewed it because I found it to be worth the time. Good gear takes time, but its always worth the investment. If you would like to contact me via email there is a form below. Thanks for stopping by.
